Registration with the Anagrafe for EU students
Students coming from the European Union who will stay in Italy for a period of more than 3 months must register at the Town Hall of residence (Iscrizione Anagrafica).
Non-EU Students applying for visas:
To apply for a visa for the purpose of mobility for courses/activities to be carried out within structured national (Marco Polo, Turandot) or international (Erasmus) programmes, before entering Italy, non-EU students must follow the procedure established within the Universitaly portal (for the part relating to the visa application only) and obtain validation of their application by the university of reference. Subsequent and/or competing applicants must follow the specific rules of the individual mobility program, which remain unchanged.
Residence Permit for non-EU students
Non-EU students, who plan to stay in Italy for more than 3 months, must request a Residence Permit within 8 working days of arrival in Italy. After enrolment at Roma Tre, they must go to a post office with the desk “Sportello Amico” bringing the following documents:
- a declaration of Roma Tre attesting their enrolment
- 4 passports-sized photos
- a valid identification document/card and a photocopy of it
- a copy of the health insurance certified by the Italian Consulate or by Embassy in home country and a copy of Visa
- residence-permit kit, that can be picked up at any Italian post office, at the Sportello Amico

Non-EU students have to show proof of certified health insurance coverage in Italy (it is recommended to have a copy certified by the Italian Consulate or by Embassy in your own country). Otherwise, foreign students may buy a private insurance policy in Italy.
To open a bank account or apply for a canteen card, it is necessary to have a tax code. It is possible to apply for it at the Agenzia delle Entrate located in Via Ippolito Nievo, 48-50, tel: 06.58.31.91 e-mail: email@example.com (metro B stop “Piramide”, then tram n.3 stop Piazza Ippolito Nievo).

University canteens provide low cost meals . They are managed by Link identifier #identifier__90222-6DiSCo Lazio (Ente Regionale per il Diritto allo Studio e alla Conoscenza).

1st October – start of teaching activities and first cycle of lessons for 10/13 weeks
January/February – 4/6 weeks examinations of the reference academic year
1st March – start of the second cycle of lessons for 10/13 weeks
June/July – 4/6 weeks exams
1-30 September – tests of the reference academic year
