Artificial Intelligence and Ethics: SEPAI is founded - Society for the Ethics and Politics of Artificial Intelligence

A new and important chapter is opening in the debate on artificial intelligence and its ethics with the establishment of the Society for the Ethics and Politics of Artificial Intelligence (SEPAI). This research and discussion center is dedicated to scholars and professionals engaged in the critical analysis of the ethical and political implications of AI.

SEPAI’s inaugural conference will be held at Roma Tre University on December 4–5, 2025, at the Rectorate (Via Ostiense, 133).

The event represents a crucial moment to discuss how artificial intelligence is redefining the boundaries of human decision-making and transforming social, economic and cultural paradigms.
The conference, which will host more than 100 speakers across 26 thematic roundtables, is organized in partnership between Roma Tre University and Pegaso University, under the direction of Mario De Caro and Andrea Lavazza.
The initiative is supported by Rivista.AI, Roma Future Week and Brand Genesi, which aim to promote public reflection on the conscious use of AI, placing ethics at the center of technological progress.
The SEPAI conference seeks to bring together internationally renowned experts, including philosophers, scientists and policymakers, to explore the complex relationship between artificial intelligence, decision-making power and responsibility. Participants will have the opportunity to exchange views on crucial topics such as algorithmic transparency and ethical challenges connected to the use of AI in contemporary society.
With this initiative, Italy positions itself as a point of reference in the European debate on the ethics of artificial intelligence—not only as an academic exercise but as a concrete commitment to building a future in which technology and humanity can coexist in harmony.
